Office equipment boost from flexible working

New flexible working rules could see a boost in office equipment sales as more businesses make efforts to accommodate homeworkers, reports suggest.

The rules were unveiled by the government last week in a bid to extend rights to parents with teenagers, which could provide a boost to office equipment sales jobs.

According to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (Berr), the extension likely to increase flexible working by more than four million workers.

Many small and medium-sized enterprises have already started introducing the scheme, with 71 per cent noting significant improvements in employee relations.

Big firms are positive about the scheme too. HR director of supermarket giant Sainsbury's, Imelda Walsh was among business leaders expressing their support.

She said: "This change would offer an important opportunity for parents to have extra flexibility at key times in their children's lives."

Commenting on ZDNet, Christian Harris suggests that companies interested in implementing flexible working prepare a separate equipment budget for potential work or remote workers.
